Gender moment 1

My gender moment came the other day. I went to dinner for my birthday. We had a male waiter when it came time to taking the orders he went around starting with all of the women and then took the males order. I thought that was interesting because that is how society has trained us with the age ole "ladies first" idea.

The age old rule is beneficial to women in most situations. The lady first rule is common courtesy to women. Women can influence the social setting at a restaurant in a large by the services on the waiter or waitress. Ladies have Ladies night at bars to attract women to a particular bar. Women have an advantage of using their sexuality to help gain an advantage, which is a weakness of men. I have noticed women usually have made up their mind when it time to order from a menu and this why when I taking a women out to eat I always ask them where they want to eat at. Society norms are expectation for men is to do the values in a culture that are considered being a gentleman. The behavior is shown in romantic movies by male actors. I went out to dinner with my best friend and his wife. My friend holds the door for his girlfriend for years and now they are married he still hold doors for her. At he takes her coat at dinner time and put her coat of the back of chair. His wife looked at me with a rude expression, when I didn’t take my wife coat at dinner time. The expressions on her face grab my attention. I think a broke a cultural value that is second nature for my friend.

  2. George- I agree with you and Ashley. I find it funny though that men feel the need to wait until after the person has left to make a statement like that. I know being a female if i thought someone was attractive i would just tell them. I know guys and girls react differently in situations but i am sure if that female heard the comment she would be offended.

  3. Johnson-
I agree with the ladies influencing social settings. Women often don't have to pay cover chargers at bars, get drinks for free and are more often than not treated better than males. I like the age old rule of common courtesy.
